ENERGY

(1) Green sources of energy = renewable sources of energy = solar/ wind/ hydro energy

(2) Cease (v) = stop

(3) Infinite resources: tài nguyên hữu hạn

(4) Deplete (v) = destroy

(5) The interruption of energy supply: sự gián đoạn trong việc cung cấp năng lượng

(6) Environmental degradation: sự hủy hoại môi trường

(7) Exhaust emissions: khí thải độc

(8) The culprit of: thủ phạm của cái gì đó

(9) By-product (n): sản phẩm phụ của cái gì

(10)  Negligible (adj): không đáng kể

(11) A sustainable development: phát triển bền vững

(12) Offer a glimmer of hope: gieo rắc 1 tia hy vọng

In recent years, there has been a growing trend towards using green sources of energy like wind and solar power instead of traditional ones, such as fossil fuels in many countries. From my perspective, it is certainly a positive development for many reasons.

It is undeniable that those traditional sources have appeared and addressed energy issues for centuries, but they are not without drawbacks that it is time to cease using them. First, since they are infinite resources, if humans keep exploiting them, they will be depleted in the future. Consequently, the interruption of energy supply would be unavoidable if there were no alternatives. Another disadvantage of using energy produced from fossil fuels relates to environmental degradation. In fact, exhaust emissions like CO2 that are the culprit of global warming are by-products of energy production from coal, oil and natural gas.

On the other hand, investing and using new alternatives can bring loads of benefits. One of them is to provide inexpensive energy for humans on the long run. Although some might suggest initial installation costs for renewable sources of energy are high, they appear to be negligible compared to the amount of money that solar and wind energy systems can save when it comes to long-term goals. Furthermore, the switch from using fossil fuels to greener sources is considered as a sustainable development as it helps alleviate environmental issues. In fact, global warming has been increasing at an alarming rate, affecting both humans and other creatures on the planet, thereby how humans can go further and develop sustainably without caring the environment.

In conclusion, despite the fact that fossil fuels still remain the most popular sources in many countries, the appearance and the use of renewable sources is obviously a progress, which offers a glimmer of hope for ensuring sustainability of the planet.
