Nowadays, many believe that killing animals for food, medicines and clothing will be unnecessary. Although some might oppose this, I completely agree with the opinion of stopping using animals.
The first argument to support my opinion is that using animals for any purposes can bring several detrimental effects on both animals and human beings. First, animal experiments have existed for decades and caused trauma and pain to animals, while they do not deserve to be treated like that. This violates animal rights that any species should be equally respected and live as a normal creature on the planet. Second, excessive consumption of meat on a regular or long-term basis can breed serious diseases to humans, even some of them are unprecedented. For example, many theories suggest that the root cause of the Covid-19 pandemic stems from eating soups made from bats, and though this rumor has not been proved yet, it is time to reconsider consuming animals, especially wild ones.
Another rationale is that alternatives have been found. In terms of developing new drugs, computer-based stimulation now can be used for medical experimentation. In fact, researchers have attempted to design software that can stimulate the drug path and indicate medical effects of a newly discovered drug without injecting to animals. Also to be considered is that people now can alter their eating habits from meat consumption to whole plant-based diets. This is because plenty scientific evidence suggests that beans and mushrooms can be used as substitutes for meat as they contain high levels of protein and other essential nutrients.
In conclusion, despite the fact that some would argue drawbacks of not using animals for food and other products, I strongly believe that it is time to cease violating animals for human purposes because not only does this bring many negative effects, but also other alternatives have been available. |
