It is clear that home working is beneficial for both workers and employers. First, if employees are allowed to work from home, they can save a lot of time for traveling. In fact, commuting is often time-consuming and exhausting, especially in rush hours, which not only makes employees have less time for work but also lose their energy. Second, many believe that working from home is safer, especially in this unexpected world. For example, it appears to be the best option for employers to allow their workers to work from home during the Covid-19 pandemic, helping ensure both the workers’ health and companies’ productivity.

Nevertheless, working from home is not without drawbacks so that this pattern should not be always encouraged to replace working at offices. The first reason is that it is difficult for companies to control their employees. In fact, employers could not know exactly whether what time their staff starts working, or whether their staff is doing jobs or something else. In addition, there are jobs that require employees to be present to manage them. For example, a technical staff can control his equipment from home through software like Ultraview, but how he could manage to address problems arising from the equipment without being present at the workplace.

In conclusion, although computers and modems can allow workers to finish many working tasks at home, this does not mean home working should be always promoted, especially for specific jobs.
